Book Pick: July

The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner.

What's a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program--or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan--or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

Welcome to the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Your tour guide? None other than Libba Bray, the hilarious, sensational, Printz Award-winning author of A Great and Terrible Beauty and Going Bovine. The result is a novel that will make you laugh, make you think, and make you never see beauty the same way again.

Beauty Queens is the book club pick for July. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a comment. =)

Amanda, the Vintage Bookworm

Amanda, Book Club Admin

Hello, my name is Amanda. I am the owner of the book review blog, the Vintage Bookworm. I am a young mother to a nearly 3 month old, he was born on the 24th of March. I'm a bookworm, obviously, and my husband picks on me at times. But never in a bad way.

We just moved into our new apartment, so all my books are currently renting out the bottom of my side of the closet.
Hopefully we'll get a shelf in here soon, so all my pretties can be where they belong! And not shut in a closet where no one can see them.

A few of my favorite authors are: Maggie Stiefvater, Richelle Mead, Rachel Vincent, Rachel Caine, Suzanne Collins, Meg Cabot, Sarah Dessen, J.K Rowling and that is all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

A few of my favorite books are: The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater, The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Unearthly by Cynthia Hand, The False Princess by Eilis O'Neal, The Ghost and the Goth series by Stacey Kade, Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

July Book Club Pick!

Opening

Hello!

Welcome to Devoted to YA Book Club!

One night, I decided it would be lots of fun to start an online book club. So, naturally, I expressed my thoughts to a good friend and fellow bookworm; Jackie from Don't Sleep, Read! Afterwards, she told me that it would be fun and that she'd join and help me out with it!

So that is how this lovely book club was started!

I have been a book reviewer for a couple of years now, and an avid reader even longer! I always love meeting new friends who are also readers, and I love sharing opinions on books. So I thought this would be a GREAT way to do just that! And also help get the word out about author's books as well!

This book club may be new, but I have a great idea to where this is headed, and I'll be adding new features to the blog soon. So don't be afraid to sign up! And if you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at vintagebookworm@yahoo.com.
